I ran across an extremely interesting book today that was written over 100 years ago about a doctor and his wife that moved from a city to become farmers. It’s called “The Fat of the Land” by John Williams Streeter. Since this book is in the public domain, it’s available in its entirety via Google Book Search. Here’s the link to it:

It’s clear to me that something has been lost in our modern world. We tend to think of ourselves as fortunate to be living in a time of high-technology, but our ancestors possessed access to something far more valuable — moral values and a high degree of common sense.
